I ave just been to Batanes last February, 2010. It is truly a very beautiful place. As far as i know, May is still a safe month to go to Batanes (no typhoons yet), especially if you will also be visiting Sabtang Island (around 1 hr by boat from Batan Island where the airport and inns are). If you plan to visit the 2 islands, you will need at least 3 days 2 days for Batan Islands and 1 day for Sabtang Island. But if you do decide to stay longer, you surely won’t regret it.
